In season 2 of Travel Man: 48 Hours in..., host Richard Ayoade takes us on a whirlwind tour of some of the most exciting cities in the world, spending just 48 hours in each location. In episode 5, Richard heads to Seville, Spain's fourth largest city, to explore its rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious cuisine.

After a quick check-in at his hotel, Richard sets off to explore the city's historic center, starting at the iconic Plaza de Espana. Built for the 1929 World's Fair, this expansive plaza is home to a beautiful fountain, intricate tile work, and plenty of benches to take in the views. From there, Richard heads to the Real Alcazar, a stunning palace that has served as a filming location for Game of Thrones. With its ornate courtyards, intricate tile work, and lush gardens, the Real Alcazar is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Seville.

Next up, Richard visits the Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Here, he takes in the impressive architecture, including the towering Giralda bell tower and the ornate altarpiece. He even stops by the tomb of Christopher Columbus, who is said to be buried here. From the cathedral, Richard heads to the nearby Alfonso XIII Hotel, a historic landmark that has hosted the likes of Hemingway and Picasso. He takes a tour of the lavish interior, which features opulent decor and a stunning central courtyard.

After a quick siesta back at his hotel, Richard heads out to feast on some of Seville's most delicious treats. First up, he visits Bar El Comercio, a local institution that has been serving up traditional pastries since 1904. Here, Richard samples the famous pestiños and torrijas, which are both fried and coated in sugar. He also tries some delicious churros con chocolate, a sweet fried dough that is served with a rich chocolate dipping sauce.

Next, Richard takes us on a tapas crawl through Seville's bustling streets, stopping at some of his favorite spots along the way. He enjoys some fried fish and croquetas at Casa Ricardo, before moving on to El Rinconcillo, which has been serving up tapas since 1670. Here, he tries the famous pringá, a meat-filled sandwich that is a beloved local snack. He also stops by La Azotea, a trendy rooftop bar that serves up some of the best cocktails in the city.

On his second day in Seville, Richard heads out to explore some of the city's most stunning sights outside of the old city center. First up, he visits the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza, one of the oldest and most important bullrings in Spain. Here, he takes a tour of the impressive arena and learns about the history and culture of bullfighting. From there, Richard takes a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Parque de Maria Luisa, a sprawling park that is home to fountains, gardens, and plenty of shady spots to relax.

Next, Richard visits the Triana neighborhood, a lively area across the river from the city center. Here, he stops by the Mercado de Triana, a bustling market that is full of fresh produce, seafood, and local delicacies. He also pays a visit to the ceramic workshops and artisan shops that line the streets of this charming neighborhood.

Finally, Richard ends his trip with a taste of flamenco, the soulful and passionate dance that is synonymous with Seville. He visits Tablao el Arenal, a beloved flamenco venue that has hosted some of the most famous names in flamenco history. Here, he enjoys a mesmerizing performance by some of the city's most talented dancers.

Overall, Richard's 48 hours in Seville are a whirlwind tour of some of the city's most iconic sights, vibrant neighborhoods, and delicious treats. With his trademark wit and humor, Richard brings us along on a journey that is both informative and entertaining.
