Have you ever seen a pelican eat? Have you seen its throat? Pelicans are capable of filling their mouths with lots of fish, which they swallow little by little, but they never sing while doing this otherwise they'd choke. What's more it's useless to sing with their mouth full because nobody would understand the lyrics anyway.
