Watch a Clip from '30 Minutes or Less,' Starring Aziz Ansari and Jesse Eisenberg (Video)

August is usually a pretty rough time at the movies. Studios are rushing to cram in all the films that feel like summer films, but aren't actually good enough to compete with the big boys, and Oscar season hasn't really started yet, so you can't even go see a decent drama. So unless you're into barbarians, vampires, apes, or spy kids, you're pretty much out of luck.
Enter Aziz Ansari and Jesse Eisenberg, who are here to make sure you can get through August with at least one quality movie. The previously-released trailer had me laughing, and the clip shown at last night's MTV Movie Awards proves that it isn't all big one-liners. There seem to be plenty of small jokes to be had as well.
Ansari is pretty much wiping the floor weekly in the wonderful "Parks & Recreation," but it's great to see him having a more prominent role in a big summer comedy. And pairing him with Jesse Eisenberg is pretty brilliant - Eisenberg's a funny guy, but very low-key, and Ansari works best at high energy, all the time. Throw in Danny McBride ("Eastbound and Down"), have them all directed by Ruben Flesicher ("Zombieland"), and I am there.
This clip introduces you to the central narrative drive - Jesse Eisenberg plays a pizza delivery guy who, one night when delivering pizzas, is kidnapped. The kidnappers strap a bomb to his chest that will go off if he doesn't rob a bank within a certain amount of time. Ansari plays his best friend, and McBride plays one of the kidnappers. Check it out!
"30 Minutes or Less" comes out August 12th.
