DIEner is a dark and twisted thriller from 2009, directed by Patrick Horvath. The film is centered around a small town diner, owned by a husband and wife team, who are approached by a mysterious stranger with a unique request - he wants to dine on human flesh. The movie starts off with the introduction of the main characters - Ken (Joshua Grote), his girlfriend Steph (Liesel Kopp) and best friend Jake (Parker Quinn). Ken and Steph are in a dysfunctional relationship and are looking to start fresh by moving to California. However, before they leave, Jake convinces them to stop at a remote diner on the outskirts of town.

At the diner, they meet the owners, Mason and his wife, who are clearly dealing with their own personal issues. Mason is a veteran who is haunted by his experiences in Iraq, and his wife is struggling with her own demons. It's clear that they're barely holding it together, and their business is suffering as a result.

It's at the diner that the group meets the stranger, who introduces himself as John. John is an odd and slightly unsettling character, who immediately catches their attention. He's polite and well-spoken, but there's something dark and dangerous lurking beneath the surface.

Over dinner, John makes his request known - he wants to dine on human flesh. Ken, Steph, and Jake are all horrified, but Mason and his wife are intrigued, seeing an opportunity to make some money by catering to John's bizarre desires.

What follows is a tense game of cat and mouse, as John's true intentions become increasingly clear. Things quickly spiral out of control, as the group becomes trapped in the diner, with John holding them hostage as he indulges his twisted desires.

Throughout the film, the tension is expertly maintained, with the claustrophobic setting of the diner providing the perfect backdrop for the horror unfolding within. The characters are all well-drawn and fully realized, with their various flaws and weaknesses coming to the fore as the situation becomes increasingly dire.

Joshua Grote is excellent as Ken, the hapless everyman caught up in a situation he can barely comprehend. He's a sympathetic character, and the audience is easily able to identify with his horror and confusion.

Liesel Kopp is equally good as Steph, Ken's girlfriend, who is battling her own demons while trying to survive the nightmarish situation. She's a strong and capable character, with a fierce determination that makes her a formidable opponent for John.

Parker Quinn provides some much-needed comic relief in his role as Jake, Ken's best friend. His witty one-liners and laid-back demeanor provide a welcome respite from the tension, although his character also reveals some surprising depths as the plot unfolds.

The standout performance, however, comes from John, played with chilling intensity by Tony Award-winning actor Robert Mammana. Mammana imbues the character with an unsettling combination of politeness and menace, making him a truly memorable and terrifying villain.

Overall, DIEner is a well-crafted and highly effective horror movie, with a strong cast, taut direction, and a genuinely disturbing premise. It's not for the faint of heart, but for fans of the genre, this is a must-see film.

DIEner is a 2010 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 15 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.9.
