This 1982, fifty three minute documentary film chronicles the life and times of niche famous African experimental musician, Fela A. Kuti. The film examines the often debated musician's life through the use of personal archived interview footage, voice over narration that provides some background to the performer that most people would be unaware before watching the film as well as personal home footage shot in color and largely without dialogue.
Fela Kuti gained both fame and infamy due to both his ideological views as well as his, so called at the time, "deviant" lifestyle. He was a man who furiously opposed the reigning Nigerian regime and had multiple sexual partners at the same time, unapologetically, a man whose music was as much personal anecdote as societal revolt.
Fela Kuti: Music Is the Weapon is a 1982 documentary with a runtime of 54 minutes.
