Gundamma Gaari Manavadu is a Telugu drama movie directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and released in 1962. The movie stars legendary actors S. V. Ranga Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Jamuna and Savitri as the lead. The story revolves around a woman named Gundamma who is a widow of a wealthy landlord and her relationships with the people around her.

The movie opens with a wealthy landlord Ramudu (S.V.Ranga Rao) who is upset because his younger brother Krishnamurthy (A. Nageswara Rao) has fallen in love with a poor girl named Radha (Jamuna). Ramudu is against their relationship and wants to separate them. Gundamma (Savitri), Ramudu's sister-in-law, is a strong and dominating woman who manipulates Ramudu to do her bidding.

Krishnamurthy and Radha marry secretly and move to their own house, which infuriates Ramudu. Gundamma tries to bring Krishnamurthy and Radha back to the family again but fails. Gundamma is a typical woman who wants to have control over everything and everyone around her. She also has a son named Raja (Krishna), who is a spoiled brat and does not work. Gundamma's husband had instructed that Raja should not work and be fed by Gundamma all his life. Gundamma is struggling to make ends meet and provide for her family.

Krishna (NTR), a young man who is a mechanic, falls in love with Gundamma's daughter Rajyalakshmi (Sobhan Babu). He approaches Gundamma to ask for her daughter's hand in marriage. Gundamma agrees but only under the condition that Krishna should work in the family's agricultural land. Krishna is not interested in agricultural work but agrees to do it for his love. With the help of his friends, Krishna does the work to Gundamma's satisfaction.

Krishna notices how Gundamma is controlling everyone's lives and decides to teach her a lesson. He meets a woman named Maya (Rajashree) who is also a widow and has a son named Balu. Krishna decides to play a game by pretending that he is in love with Maya to make Gundamma jealous.

Gundamma gets jealous seeing that Krishna is paying attention to Maya and wants to bring him back to the family. She decides to ask Krishna to marry her daughter Rajyalakshmi. Krishna agrees but only if Gundamma agrees to accept Balu, Maya's son, as her own grandson. Gundamma reluctantly agrees, and Krishna and Rajyalakshmi get married.

The movie ends on a happy note, with Balu being accepted as a member of the family and Gundamma realizing her mistakes. The movie portrays the theme of love, acceptance, and forgiveness. It is an old classic that is still relevant today, and the performances of the legendary actors add to the charm of the movie.

The music and songs of the movie are also notable, composed by Ghantasala and penned by the legendary lyricist Pingali Nagendra Rao. The songs 'Naa Cheli Rojave,' 'Preme Naa Pranam' and 'Ye Teega Puvvuno' are still popular among Telugu listeners.

Overall, Gundamma Gaari Manavadu is a timeless classic that showcases the beautiful relationships between family members and the importance of accepting people for who they are.
