Movie Preview: Woody Allen's New Film 'Midnight in Paris' a Time-Travel Comedy?

Midnight in Paris.jpg" style="margin: 5px; float: left; width: 300px; height: 169px;" />Woody Allen's newest film might not have Scarlett Johannsson in it, but it does have time-travel. And let's be honest: while the former loses some of its glamour when it starts dating a 50-year-old, the latter will never not be awesome.

If you're a Woody Allen fan and you think that the time-travel idea was best left to "Sleeper," don't worry: this isn't some kind of new sci-fi side to the legendary filmmaker.

The movie follows a writer (Owen Wilson) and his wife (Rachel McAdams) who begin drifting apart while on vacation in Paris. It is then that Wilson's character finds himself transported back to 1920's Paris at night, where he rubs elbows with the likes of Salvador Dali, Hemingway, Picasso, and other famous figures that Allen very clearly would like to have known.

The reaction from the mostly press and critic-laden crowd at the opening at Cannes was a positive one, and reports say that Wilson is a strong stand-in for Allen (a tough spot to fill). The rest of the cast includes Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, and Marion Cotillard.

Expect to see "Midnight in Paris" in a modest release later this year.
