It's (Almost) Official: Jena Malone Offered 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Role

Like it or not, it looks like the role of Johanna Mason in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" has been cast, and it's going to be Jena Malone.

The news comes just a couple of days after reports had newcomer Zoe Aggeliki as the frontrunner for the role. "Glee" star Naya Rivera was heavily pushed for by fans, but as those fans probably learned, casting directors don't take Twitter trends into account when casting major motion pictures. Sorry, guys. Hard truths.

Malone should fit the role fairly well: she has played headstrong, sharp-tongued characters in the past. Additionally, her work in "Sucker Punch" has proved that she can handle the degree of stunt work that will be required in "Catching Fire."

As of yet, the role has only been offered to Malone, and nothing is official. However, outlets like THR are reporting that it's all but a done deal at this point.

This is certainly great news for Malone, as Mason ends up (without giving away any spoilers) being a fairly significant player in the remainder of the "Hunger Games" trilogy. Lucky for her, the movie's PG-13 rating means she won't be having to get totally naked for Johanna's big introduction.

Is Jena the right choice for Johanna, or would you have chosen someone else? Let us know in the comments.
