Robert Pattinson Speaks On 'Amazing' End To 'Twilight' Saga

From 2008 up to now, five movies have defined - for better or worse - Robert Pattinson's career.

It started with 2008's Stephanie Meyer adaptation "Twilight," the vampires-and-werewolves-in-love-and-high-school melodrama that became probably a more massively mainstream, broad pop-culture phenomenon than anybody could've anticipated.

The two sequels released so far since - "New Moon" and "Eclipse," of course the next sequential books in Meyer's anthology - each topped the preceding installment for insane hype and detractor mockery.

But love 'em or hate 'em, the world now knows Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristin Stewart by name and face.

So when five movies - since the series finale, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," is split into two full-length installments - define careers that young, what becomes of the finale of the whole experience?

If what Pattinson told Premiere is any indication, he's ending the whole thing on a positive note.

“We were in Canada for the last day of shooting with the entire crew. A normal day on the set of 'Breaking Dawn,' we were shooting at night, it was freezing and raining,” Pattinson said.

“When the first assistant announced the end with his clapperboard, everybody locked themselves up in their trailer without even having a last drink."

“But my last day, strictly speaking, came a bit later and it was amazing,” he continued.

Pattinson is referring to several days of additional shooting involving just himself and Stewart. Compared with every other shooting experience, Pattinson relished spending several days shooting scenes sans contacts or makeup on a Caribbean beach. He recalled that "every difficult moment just vanished" as he, Stewart and crew sipped drinks seaside after shooting each day's last scenes.

For those who haven't read the books, SPOILERS LAY AHEAD WITH PATTINSON'S REMAINING THOUGHTS.

He explained that upon originally reading Meyer's "Twilight Saga" finale, he suddenly considered this homestretch's material a tad daunting.

“It scared me a little too, to be honest. When I heard about the last book and was said: ‘You’ll see, they sleep together all the time, it’s rough sometimes too. Jacob falls in love with a baby…’ I was dumbfounded. Summarized like this, you’d think it was the most screwed up story ever,” Pattinson said.

“But when you read it, it’s not as shocking/scandalous. For those who don’t know the books, I’m sure this movie is going to be by far the most interesting of the saga. We’re gone from the teenaged fantastic genre and enter a weird drama that ventures into horror at times," he continued.

Apparently one way the movie ventures into horror by having Bella go through a few particularly nasty moments during her pregnancy.

“There are scenes where Bella looks like an alien. When the baby eats her from the inside, she looks so thin and ghastly. Kristen had to wear this horrible makeup and when I’d see her come on set, I’d ask the crew, ‘Are you sure we’re filming ‘Twilight’? Isn’t it supposed to be harmless and PG-13?’”

For you who didn't see it when it premiered this past May, or you who just need your Team Jacob/Team Edward appetite whetted, here's the official "Breaking Dawn" trailer.
