'Glee': Mercedes Finds a Boyfriend in 'Friday Night Lights' Star

'Glee': Mercedes Finds a Boyfriend in 'Friday Night Lights' Star The major bummer for "Glee" fans about Chord Overstreet (Sam) being demoted to recurring and subsequently turning down the offer and leaving the show entirely is that means Mercedes (played by Amber Riley) is about to be even more unlucky in love. There has been an on-and-off side plot with her character over the past two seasons, showing that she wants a boyfriend but can't seem to find the right guy.

Then, in the season two finale, it was revealed in the last five minutes or so that Mercedes and Sam were dating. And then Sam left the show.

But it looks Ryan Murphy and the writers have Mercedes' back: a new cast member has been added, and he's rumored to be Mercedes' new love interest.

Lamarcus Tinker is the newest addition to the "Glee" cast, a big guy who played a linebacker in the Emmy-nominated series "Friday Night Lights," which just ended its run. We don't know yet if Lamarcus will be doing any singing or dancing, but he will (go figure) be a member of the football team at McKinley High.
