Julianne Moore to Play Sarah Palin in HBO Film 'Game Change'

Julianne Moore to Play Sarah Palin in HBO Film 'Game Change' Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore has been cast to play Sarah Palin in an HBO TV movie. What, no love for Tina Fey?

The movie, titled "Game Change," is an adaptation of a book of the same name written by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. The story follows the 2008 campaign of John McCain for the presidency, detailing his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate and his defeat in the November vote.

The movie will be directed by Jay Roach, who has a distinguished background in comedy including directing credits for the "Austin Powers" films and the "Meet the Parents" series. If his resumé is any indication, the end product of "Game Change" should include some comedic elements, even though the project is labeled as a drama.

Roach also directed the political TV movie "Recount," which chronicled the fallout of the 2000 presidential election. Writer Danny Strong, who penned the screenplay for "Recount," will be providing the script for "Game Change" as well.

Moore has a lot of buzz behind her right now, having recently starred in the Oscar-nominated "The Kids Are All Right." We'll have to see how she handles playing the sometimes cartoonish Palin: she has some big shoes to fill after Tina Fey wowed us with her impersonation.
