The King's Speech dominates Golden Globe Awards with 7 Nominations

The King's Speech Movie Poster “The King’s Speech” a historical drama about England’s King George VI’s attempt to prevail over nervous stammer receives seven nominations from the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards Tuesday.

The film starring Colin Firth as King George was nominated in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Actor (Collin Firth), Best Supporting Actor(Geoffrey Rush), Best Supporting Actress(Helena Bonham Carter), Best Director (Tom Hooper), Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.

Jesse Eisenberg in "The Social Network," James Franco in "127 Hours," Ryan Gosling in "Blue Valentine" and Mark Wahlberg for "The Fighter were also nominated for the Best Actor category.

The nominees for Best Actress include Halle Berry for "Frankie and Alice," Nicole Kidman for "Rabbit Hole," Jennifer Lawrence for "Winter's Bone," Natalie Portman for "Black Swan" and Michelle Williams for "Blue Valentine."

Michael Douglas for "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Christian Bale for "The Fighter," Andrew Garfield for "The Social Network" and Jeremy Renner for "The Town."

Amy Adams and Melissa Leo for "The Fighter," Mila Kunis for "Black Swan" and Jacki Weaver for "Animal Kingdom join Helena Bonham Carter as nominees for the Best Supproting Actress category.

Darren Aronofsky for "Black Swan," David Fincher for "The Social Network," Christopher Nolan for "Inception" and David O. Russell for "The Fighter join the list for Best Birector.

"Black Swan," "The Fighter" and "Inception" were also nominated for the Best Picture category.

"Glee" scored five nominations in Television including Best TV Series in the Comedy or Musical category, Best Actress (Lea Michele), Best Actor (Matthew Morrison), Best Supporting Actress (Jane Lynch) and Best Supporting Actor (Chris Colfer).

Other nominees for best TV series, comedy or musical are "30 Rock," "The Big Bang Theory," "The Big C," "Modern Family" and "Nurse Jackie."

"The Social Network," a story about the beginnings of Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerburg trails the “King’s Speech” with six nominations including best film, director, actor, supporting actor, screenplay and best original score. The Los Angeles, Boston and New York movie critics recently chose it as Best Film of the Year.

Let us wait and see if “Social Network” will emerge as the winner in the 68th Golden Globe Awards that will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It will be broadcast live Jan. 16 on NBC.
