Ashton Kutcher's Job on 'Two and a Half Men': Internet Billionaire

Ashton Kutcher's Job on 'Two and a Half Men': Internet Billionaire As we reported earlier this week, reports have surfaced that the new season of "Two and Half Men" would open up with Charlie in a coffin, and the house up for sale.

Now, thanks to a press conference with CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler, we know a few new details about Ashton Kutcher's mysterious new character, who is replacing Charlie Harper (played by Charlie Sheen) on the show.

First off, Kutcher's character has a name: Walden Schmidt. Secondly, we know that while Charlie may have been successful as a jingle writer, it's nothing compared to Walden's career. Kutcher's character will be a billionaire who made his fortune on the internet.

That detail does a few things. It echoes a bit of Kutcher's online involvement as one of the most-followed and most active celebrities on Twitter, it updates the career of the show's main character to something a little more 2010's, and it makes Walden much more rich and successful than Charlie, a bit of a dig at Sheen himself.

It was also revealed that Walden will be suffering from "a broken heart," which is a departure from the womanizing ways of Charlie. Of course, he could still be a womanizer while having a broken heart, but for now it seems that Kutcher's role will be different in tone from Sheen's.

During the conference, Tassler also said that she was "not going to confirm or deny" that Charlie Harper will be die and have a funeral in the first episode. "The mystery is part of the marketing," Tassler said. "The chatter and the conversation is part of what the fun is going to be."

I guess we'll have to wait until the September 19th premiere to find out if Charlie bites the dust.
