This is a biographical movie about a series of paintings by William Hogarth. In 1731, painter William Hogarth became interested in women who worked as prostitutes. He felt their lives were horrible, and wanted to do something about it. He chose one of them to use as a model for a series of paintings. His wife and father-in-law objected to the model. He had no interest in her, just her profession.
