A Plate of Sardines is a short documentary film that was released in 1997. The film is a self-reflective piece from the documentarian Omar Amiralay. The film takes a look at one of his earliest memories where he was living in Lebanon, and heard adults talking about the newly formed country of Israel. At the center of the conversation was a plat of sardines that became fixed in the filmmaker’s memory. The documentary recreates this event with several cuts and camera techniques used to show the emotions of him as a child.
