Watch Ahlam al-Madina

Ahlam al-Madina, translated into English as the title Dreams of the City, is a Syrian film from 1984. The film follows the life of a boy growing up in Quneitra, Syria during the 1950s. After the city grows turbulent with the fighting between Arabs and Israelis, the boy is forcibly relocated to Damascus in the southwestern portion of the country. While he leaves his homeland as a boy, the experiences along the road have him reaching the gates of Damascus as a man. All dialogue in the film is presented in the Arabic language.
