All Saints Eve is a horror movie from 2015, directed by Gerry Lively. The film follows five college friends, who decide to spend Halloween weekend in an abandoned insane asylum on the outskirts of town. The group sets out to investigate the asylum's dark past, but soon finds themselves trapped inside, with no way to escape. As they navigate the dark, twisted corridors of the asylum, the group begins to unravel the forgotten secrets and evil that lurks within.

The film begins with a brief prologue, set in 1955. A young girl named Miriam is admitted to the asylum, suffering from severe psychiatric issues. She is subjected to brutal treatments and experiments, which leave her scarred and traumatized. Miriam's story sets the stage for the horror that awaits the group of college friends.

The central characters are as follows: Jake (Marc Macaulay), the fearless leader of the group, who is determined to uncover the asylum's dark secrets; Christina (Mere Davis), Jake's girlfriend, who is reluctant to explore the asylum but ultimately agrees to come along; Tyler (Bingo O'Malley), Jake's best friend and the group's resident skeptic; and the siblings Chris (Cindy Fernandez-Nixon) and Hayley (Krystal Tini), who are both interested in the paranormal.

As the group explores the asylum, they begin to experience strange and terrifying phenomena. Doors slam shut on their own, shadows move across the walls, and eerie whispers fill the air. The friends soon realize that they are not alone in the asylum, and that a malevolent presence is stalking them. As they struggle to survive the night, they are forced to face their deepest fears and confront the horrors that await them.

One of the strongest elements of the film is its setting. The abandoned asylum is a menacing, claustrophobic maze of dark corridors, decaying rooms, and rusted metal bars. The film makes excellent use of the location, with the camera lingering on the creepy, decrepit details of the asylum's decor. The sound design is also effective, with eerie whispers and creaking metal adding to the film's ominous atmosphere.

The characters are a mixed bag. While they are all fairly likable, they are not particularly well-developed. The only character with a clear backstory is Jake, who has a personal connection to the asylum. The other characters are given little depth beyond their basic personalities and motivations. However, the actors all do a good job with the material they are given, and there are some fun interactions between the characters.

The film's scares are mostly effective. While there are a few jump-scares that feel cheap, the film does a good job of building tension and suspense. The malevolent presence that haunts the asylum is genuinely creepy, and there are some disturbing visuals that stick in the mind long after the film is over. The third act of the film, in particular, is tense and thrilling, with some genuinely shocking twists.

All Saints Eve is not a perfect film. It suffers from some predictable tropes of the horror genre, and the characters could have been more well-rounded. However, it is an enjoyable, well-made horror film with some genuinely creepy scares and a strong sense of atmosphere. It is a solid choice for horror fans looking for a spookier take on the classic haunted house story.

All Saint's Eve is a 2015 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.8.
