Jake Nyman is a criminal psychologist at the end of his rope. He embarks on a road trip on which he will make every decision based on the flip of a coin. On the road, he meets Sandra Thomas, a woman as disenchanted with life as he is. Jake's casual amorality appeals to Sandra's darkest impulses, and the two begin a dangerous affair, letting a coin flip decide every act of kindness or cruelty they perform. However, things get out of control when Sandra goes missing, and Jake encounters her suspicious younger sister.
