Avalanche, released in 1994, is an exciting and suspenseful film starring Michael Gross, Deanna Milligan, and Myles Ferguson. The movie takes place in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, where a wealthy businessman named David Shelton (played by Michael Gross) is preparing to open a new ski resort. Everything seems to be going well until the area is hit by a massive avalanche that threatens the lives of everyone in the resort.

The story begins with Shelton's daughter, Anna (played by Deanna Milligan), arriving at the resort to meet her father for the first time in years. She is immediately struck by the stunning landscape and the promise of a new beginning. However, her enthusiasm is short-lived as she quickly discovers that her father is more concerned with making money than with the safety of his guests.

As the ski resort prepares for its grand opening, a group of environmentalists arrives to protest the development. Led by a charismatic young man named Nick (played by Myles Ferguson), the group is determined to stop the resort from opening and to protect the wilderness they love. Nick and Anna form an instant connection, despite being on opposite sides of the issue.

The tension between the environmentalists and the resort's management is only the beginning of the drama that unfolds in Avalanche. When a massive avalanche hits the slopes, the inexperienced staff is ill-equipped to deal with the emergency. David Shelton is more concerned with covering up the accident than with rescuing his guests, leaving Anna and Nick to take matters into their own hands.

As they search for survivors in the snow-covered mountains, Anna and Nick learn to trust each other and work together despite their conflicting beliefs. They encounter a variety of challenges, from treacherous snow drifts to avalanches and collapsing buildings, as they race against time to save as many people as possible.

One of the strengths of Avalanche is the way it portrays the impact of the disaster on the different characters. While some are motivated by fear or greed, others rise to the occasion and show bravery and selflessness in the face of danger. The film does an excellent job of building tension and creating a sense of urgency, which makes the rescue scenes all the more exciting.

Another aspect of the film that stands out is the stunning cinematography. The Rocky Mountains are a breathtaking backdrop for the story, and the use of aerial shots and sweeping panoramas really capture the scale and power of the avalanche. The special effects are also impressive, particularly during the scenes where the snow is falling and the buildings are collapsing.

The performances in Avalanche are generally strong, with Michael Gross delivering a convincingly arrogant and callous portrayal of David Shelton. Deanna Milligan is also impressive as Anna, bringing a lot of depth and emotion to her character. Myles Ferguson is perhaps the weakest link in the cast, with his performance sometimes coming across as wooden and unconvincing.

Overall, Avalanche is an engaging and exciting disaster movie that holds up surprisingly well more than 25 years after its release. While it may not be the most original or thought-provoking film, it delivers on its promise of suspense, action, and romance. If you're a fan of the genre, or just looking for a fun and thrilling movie night, Avalanche is definitely worth checking out.
