Bad Eggs is a 2003 Australian comedy film that follows two detectives, Ben Kinnear (Mick Molloy) and Mike Paddock (Bob Franklin), as they investigate a string of robberies that have taken place at local milk bars. The film also stars comedian Judith Lucy as police captain Jennifer 'Leckie' Leckie, who oversees the investigation. The film begins with Kinnear and Paddock, who are both members of the Victoria Police's elite Zero Tolerance Unit, being suspended from duty due to Kinnear's accidental shooting of an innocent bystander during a routine traffic stop. While they are suspended, a string of robberies takes place at local milk bars, which prompts Leckie to reinstate them to help catch the perpetrators.

Although Kinnear and Paddock are both seasoned detectives, they are perhaps not the best at their job. Kinnear is a heavy drinker who regularly falls asleep on the job, while Paddock has a tendency to accidentally destroy evidence at crime scenes. However, despite their shortcomings, the two detectives manage to stumble their way through the investigation, eventually coming face-to-face with the group of criminals responsible for the robberies.

One of the most notable aspects of Bad Eggs is its humour. The film is packed with irreverent, over-the-top jokes, often delivered in a deadpan manner by the film's lead actors. The humour is often crass and politically incorrect, but is delivered in a way that makes it clear that it is all in good fun.

In addition to its humour, Bad Eggs is also notable for its strong performances. Mick Molloy and Bob Franklin have excellent chemistry as Kinnear and Paddock, and their odd-couple dynamic provides the backbone of the film. Meanwhile, Judith Lucy is also excellent as Leckie, managing to be tough-as-nails while also injecting a healthy dose of humour into her role.

At its heart, Bad Eggs is a classic buddy-cop film that largely plays within the conventions of the genre. However, what sets it apart is its uniquely Australian sense of humour, which manages to be both vulgar and endearing. The film is also notable for its great soundtrack, which features Australian rock and pop classics from artists like INXS, Divinyls, and Hoodoo Gurus.

Overall, Bad Eggs is a highly enjoyable film that will appeal to fans of Australian comedy and buddy-cop films in general. While it is certainly not a highbrow movie, it is a lot of fun, and its sense of humour and strong performances make it worth checking out.
