Bailiwick is a psychological thriller film directed by Tonia L. Carrier and released in 2017. It is a low-budget, independent production but makes creative use of its limited resources to create a unique and engrossing film experience. The movie follows the story of a loner and withdrawn man named Joseph (played by Tim Krueger) who moves to a new town called Bailiwick to start a new life. He takes up a job as a security guard in an old office building that is vacant and creepy. It doesn't take long before he starts to experience bizarre and terrifying events within the building, which makes him question the reality of what is happening around him.

At first, Joseph seems to be adjusting well to his new life. He spends most of his time alone, taking walks and watching movies in his apartment. However, it becomes clear that he is haunted by memories and regrets from his past, which are manifested in strange hallucinations and nightmares. He begins to lose touch with reality and becomes increasingly isolated and paranoid.

As the story progresses, the eerie and unsettling atmosphere of the building intensifies, and Joseph finds himself confronted with a series of strange characters who seem to be hiding dark secrets. These include a mysterious woman who appears to be stalking him, a strange janitor who is always lurking in the shadows, and a creepy medical examiner who performs autopsies in the building's basement.

The film's plot is slow to unfold, and there are several moments of ambiguity and uncertainty that leave the viewer unsure of what is real and what is imagined. The use of dream sequences and surrealist imagery adds to the movie's unsettling tone, and each scene seems to be building towards a dark and shocking conclusion.

Despite its low budget, the film boasts impressive visuals, thanks to the creative use of props and special effects to create a haunting and claustrophobic atmosphere. The intricate sound design also adds to the film's eerie feel, using a combination of slow-building soundscapes, distorted voices, and unnerving sound effects to create a sense of unease.

Overall, Bailiwick is an excellent example of an indie horror movie that makes the most of its resources to create a compelling and memorable story. With its slow-burning tension and twisty plot, it keeps the viewer engaged throughout and leaves them with a sense of unease long after the credits roll. For fans of psychological horror and suspense, it's definitely worth checking out.
