Barsati Gang is a Hindi drama film released in 2017, directed by Haiten Yadav and produced by Krishna Ekta Films. The film stars Shivkumar Vishwakarma, Sandeep Kumar and Nancy Thakkar in lead roles, along with supporting cast featuring Rajesh Jais, Himani Shivpuri, Brijendra Kala, and Nirmal Soni. Set in a small village of North India, the film revolves around a group of friends who come together to form a gang called 'Barsati Gang'. The gang comprises of six members- Padam (Shivkumar Vishwakarma), Bhanu (Sandeep Kumar), Jeetu (Nancy Thakkar), Bhola (Rajesh Jais), Pinky (Himani Shivpuri) and Masterji (Brijendra Kala), who share a common dream of becoming rich and successful by whatever means possible.
Padam, the leader of the gang, is an unemployed young man who is constantly ridiculed by his father and villagers for being lazy and worthless. He decides to take matters into his own hands and sets out to form the 'Barsati Gang' with his childhood friends. Initially, the gang indulges in petty theft and extortion, taking advantage of their local connections. However, as they taste success, their ambitions grow and so do their methods of acquiring wealth.
As the story progresses, the gang finds itself embroiled in a web of deceit, betrayals and power games, leading to their downfall. Love, jealousy, and greed become the driving forces behind their actions, and the once loyal friends turn against each other, destroying everything they had built.
Shivkumar Vishwakarma gives a commendable performance as Padam, the conflicted leader of the gang, torn between his loyalty towards his group and his desire for personal gain. Sandeep Kumar as Bhanu, the cunning and manipulative member of the gang, is also impressive in his portrayal. Nancy Thakkar as Jeetu, the only female member of the group, brings a refreshing change to the male-dominated narrative.
The supporting cast is equally noteworthy, with Himani Shivpuri as Pinky, the village nymphomaniac, and Brijendra Kala as Masterji, the gang's moral compass, adding layers to the plot.
The film's cinematography by Bhanu Pratap Singh captures the rustic charm of the village, while the music composed by Anjani Kumar Gupta and Manoj Negi compliments the narrative.
Barsati Gang is a compelling tale of friendship, betrayal and redemption, showcasing the dark underbelly of small-town India. The film explores the theme of power dynamics and the lengths people are willing to go to for personal gain, making it a relevant watch in today's times.
