Watch Becoming Royston

This is a coming of age movie about a young man who does not want to work in his father’s business. Tan Boon Huat is old enough to be on his own. He has spent years suffering his father’s abuse and does not want to carry on with the family’s business of shrimp farming. He leaves his island home and strikes out to find his future on the mainland.

Once he arrives, he finds work at a video store. He meets a girl his age, and they start dating. She encourages him to follow his dream of becoming a filmmaker.
