Below the Border is a western film directed by Howard Bretherton and released in 1942. It stars Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, and Raymond Hatton as three cowboys who try to clear their names after being wrongfully accused of murder. The movie opens with a group of bandits robbing a payroll from a train. They kill the guard and make a run for it, but three cowboys - Stony Brooke (Jones), Tucson Smith (McCoy), and Rusty Joslin (Hatton) - chase after them. In the ensuing gunfight, the bandits are killed but Stony, Tucson, and Rusty are mistakenly identified as the culprits by the sheriff.

The three cowboys try to explain their innocence, but the evidence is against them. The only way to clear their names is to find the real killers themselves. They start their investigation by questioning some of the townspeople who were witnesses to the robbery. One of them, a saloon owner named Sam Clemens (Harry Woods), seems to be hiding something and the cowboys become suspicious.

Meanwhile, a beautiful Mexican woman named Carmelita (Luana Walters) appears in town. She is looking for her missing brother, who was involved in the payroll robbery. Stony, Tucson, and Rusty try to help her, but their efforts only lead them deeper into trouble. They are ambushed by bandits and have to fight their way out using their advanced shooting skills.

As the investigation continues, it becomes clear that there is a bigger conspiracy at play. The bank manager who handled the payroll, Mr. Sheridan (Arthur Loft), seems to know more than he is letting on. Stony, Tucson, and Rusty confront him and he reveals that the robbery was an inside job. He had hired the bandits himself to steal the money and frame the cowboys for it. The reason for his treachery was greed, as he wanted to embezzle the payroll himself and needed a scapegoat to take the blame.

With this new information, Stony, Tucson, and Rusty are able to clear their names and expose the real culprits. However, they still have to deal with Sam Clemens, who has been causing trouble for them. In the climactic showdown, the cowboys face off against Clemens and his gang in a final gunfight. With their superior skills and teamwork, they emerge victorious and bring peace to the town.

Overall, Below the Border is a fast-paced and action-packed western film that showcases the talents of its three stars. Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, and Raymond Hatton have great chemistry together and their banter adds a touch of humor to the movie. The plot is engaging and keeps the audience guessing until the very end. The film also features some impressive stunts and battle scenes, which were done without the aid of modern special effects. While the story may be somewhat formulaic, the characters are well-drawn and the performances are solid. Overall, Below the Border is a classic example of the golden age of Hollywood westerns and a must-see for fans of the genre.

Below The Border is a 1942 western with a runtime of 57 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7.
