In the slums of Chicago, Jason Carter has the worst friends anyone could hope for. They constantly steal from him, lie to him, and make him feel like he is not as smart as he knows he is. They have no motivation. He realizes that in order to change his life he will have to change his surroundings. He picks up this belongings and moves to a nicer part of town. When he first arrives, a young woman named Leslie approaches him at the store. They become lovers shortly after and he spirals dangerously close to his old ways again.
