Chupacabra Territory is a found footage horror movie from 2016 that follows a group of four friends as they venture into the remote wilderness of Arizona. Led by their intrepid filmmaker friend, the group attempts to shoot a documentary about the mythological creature known as the chupacabra. The movie begins with the group driving down a desolate dirt road, their vehicle packed with cameras and camping gear. Sarah, the driving force behind the project, is excited to capture footage of the legendary beast and bring back the story of a lifetime. But as they journey deeper into the wilderness, they begin to realize that they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

The first warning sign comes in the form of local legend Benny, a man who warns the group about the dangers of the chupacabra and urges them to turn back. Ignoring his warnings, the group presses on, hiking through the rugged terrain and setting up camp at a remote lake.

Once there, they begin filming interviews with locals and exploring the area in search of any signs of the creature. As night falls, strange noises and sightings suggest that they may not be alone in the wilderness after all.

From there, the tension only continues to mount as the group is stalked by an unknown predator. As they fight to survive, tensions rise within the group and they begin to realize that they may not make it out of the wilderness alive.

The movie is shot entirely in found footage style, with the group's cameras capturing every moment of their journey into the unknown. This style, while not always popular with horror fans, works well in this movie, creating a sense of immediacy and realism that makes the events on screen all the more terrifying.

One of the standout elements of the movie is the setting itself. The Arizona wilderness is both beautiful and dangerous, and the movie does an excellent job of capturing both sides of this. The landscapes are stunning, but the rugged terrain and isolation also serve to heighten the feeling of danger as the group becomes more and more lost in the wilderness.

The cast is relatively small, with just four main characters. However, they do an excellent job of bringing their characters to life and creating a believable group dynamic. Sarah Nicklin is particularly strong as the driven filmmaker who is willing to put everything on the line to capture the story, while Michael Reed provides excellent support as her boyfriend and fellow filmmaker.

As for the chupacabra itself, it remains largely unseen throughout the movie. This may disappoint some viewers who were hoping for more monster action, but it actually works to the movie's advantage. By keeping the creature hidden, the movie is able to create a sense of dread and anticipation that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat. When the creature does finally appear, it's all the more terrifying for the build-up that came before it.

Overall, Chupacabra Territory is a solid entry into the found footage horror genre. It's not groundbreaking by any means, but it's well-made, tense, and features strong performances from its small cast. Fans of the genre should definitely check this one out.

Chupacabra Territory is a 2016 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.6.
