Cold Prey II (Fritt Vilt II) is a Norwegian slasher film that picks up where its predecessor left off. The movie is directed by Mats Stenberg and stars Ingrid Berdal, Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik, Kim Wifladt, Johanna Morck, and Fridtjov Saheim. The story begins with a flashback of the previous film's ending where Jannicke (Ingrid Berdal) is the lone survivor of a group of five friends who went on a ski trip and encountered a murderous psychopath, who turned out to be the hotel owner's son. Jannicke is rescued by a passing car, and the killer is seemingly killed by an avalanche while pursuing her.

Now, in Cold Prey II, Jannicke wakes up in a hospital with a fractured arm and leg, alone and traumatized. The police are there to investigate the murder and disappearances of the four other friends, which took place in the first film. Jannicke informs them of the killer, but they are skeptical since no body was found.

Meanwhile, another group of skiers finds their way to the abandoned hotel where the killer is believed to have died. As night falls, they take shelter in the hotel and make an incredibly dangerous decision to split up and search for supplies. As expected, they soon realize that they are not alone in the hotel, and that someone or something is stalking them.

The killer from the first movie, Anders (played by the talented Zander Eide), is very much alive and has been living in the hotel's basement since the avalanche. He sets his sights on the new group of guests with unrelenting brutality. However, Jannicke discovers that he is not working alone, and a dark secret of the hotel's connection to the killer is revealed.

The movie's set design and cinematography are impressive, as the hotel's eerie ambiance provides a perfect background for a horror film. The tension and suspense build steadily throughout the film, and the pacing is perfect, taking time to introduce and develop new characters before throwing them into danger. The film has several genuinely scary moments, causing viewers to hold their breath in anticipation.

The characters are given more depth than the typical horror film, adding to the emotional impact of each character's death. In particular, Ingrid Berdal is excellent in her role as Jannicke, portraying a complex array of emotions and the lasting physical and psychological scars of her ordeal in the first film.

The supporting cast is equally commendable, with Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik bringing a certain vulnerability to her role as the group's photographer, and Kim Wifladt capturing the essence of a macho and protective former soldier turned ski instructor. Fridtjov Saheim's performance as the hotel's peculiar but helpful caretaker is also noteworthy.

Despite being a sequel, the film is self-contained and provides enough context for new viewers to understand the story without requiring knowledge of the first film. Still, fans of the original film will appreciate the nods and references to past events.

In conclusion, Cold Prey II is a well-crafted horror movie that delivers scares with a clever story and sympathetic characters. The film is not for those with a weak stomach, as it contains graphic violence and gore. However, for horror fans who enjoy a good old-fashioned slasher flick, Cold Prey II will be sure to satisfy.
