Cut begins with a movie crew making a horror film called "Hot Blooded." The film-within-the-film is about a psychotic madman called Scarman (played by Frank Roberts) who was in a terrible fire and has been horrifically disfigured. The actor, Brad (Roberts), who plays the “killer” in the film and the director get into a tiff, and Brad ends up killing her before he is stabbed in the neck by one of the film’s characters (Molly Ringwald). Many years later the movie’s producer, in an attempt to recoup his investment, tries to finish the film and is mysteriously electrocuted. Then, when the film is shown in a theater, a movie patron is murdered. Rumors that the movie is cursed and will never be finished begin to circulate. Australian film-school students get wind of the rumor, and the group decides that as their final project for class they want to dispel the rumor and complete “Hot Blooded.” They talk Vanessa Turnbill (Ringwald), into returning to the project and reprising her original character, Chloe. Immediately after the crew begins production, strange things start happening on the set of the film. Of course Scarman returns, but no one knows what his real agenda is or why he wants to destroy the film and everyone involved with it. Before long, bodies start to pile up, and the actors and film crew begin to really wonder if it is actually possible that the film really is cursed and will never see completion. With Scarman skulking about, with his modified and scary hedge-clippers, no one is safe, and no one knows who will be in the next “cut.” Directed by Kimble Rendall (second-unit director for Matrix Reloaded, Ghost Rider and I, Robot), the film stars not only Ringwald and Roberts, but Kylie Minogue and Jessica Napier.
