Providing a fascinating contrast to Mozart's Don Giovanni, Dargomyzhsky's rarely heard opera The Stone Guest is another take on the Don Juan legend, based on a play by Pushkin. Rimsky-Korsakov held The Stone Guest in high esteem, and completed the orchestration after Dargomyzhsky's death. Mark Ermler conducts Orchestra and Chorus of the Bolshoi Theatre.
