Day of the Animals is a science fiction horror film that was released in 1977. The film is set in a world where the depletion of the Earth’s ozone layer has resulted in animals that are above a certain point in elevation to be mutated. This results in them becoming super violent, having a taste for humans, and having adaptations that make them the perfect hunters’ of man. Things turn for the worst when a group of hikers decide to go up into the mountains in order to see the strange animals. Unfortunately, they are in no way prepared for their aggressive tendencies. The hikers have to get out of the mountains, and have to avoid leading some of them back to their base camp. Things get worse when a quarantine of the area is put into place by the government, and they have to sneak their way through lines of soldiers. Day of the Animals was directed by William Girdler. The screenplay for the film was written by William W. Norton and Eleanor E. Norton, and the story was developed by Edward L. Montoro. Day of the Animals features performances by Christopher George, Leslie Nielsen, and Lynda Day George.
