Deep In The Woods is a 2000 French horror slasher movie directed by Lionel Delplanque. The movie is a reinterpretation of Little Red Riding Hood, in which a whole group of youngsters are hunted and killed by a terrifying psycho-killer. The story starts with the arrival of a group of actors in a remote forest in the French Pyrenees. They're on their way to perform a stage version of Little Red Riding Hood, which will be recorded for a TV special. The group includes the leading lady, Laura (Marie Trintignant), the director, Alex (Vincent Lecoeur), and the other actors, who are all recent drama school graduates. The group is also accompanied by their driver and assistant, Leo (François Berléand).

As the filming gets underway, strange things begin to happen. One of the actors, Nadia (Maud Buquet), is attacked and left bleeding, with strange marks on her neck. Meanwhile, Leo discovers that their vehicle has been sabotaged, leaving them stranded in the forest. The group soon realizes that they're not alone in the forest, as they begin to encounter the mysterious and dangerous psycho-killer.

The movie is a tense and atmospheric slasher film, with a strong emphasis on visual imagery and sound design. The forest setting provides an eerie and unsettling backdrop for the action, as the group is forced to confront their deepest fears and the brutal reality of their situation. The killer is a mysterious figure, dressed in a red cape and hood, who stalks the group with a variety of weapons and traps.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the movie is its exploration of the psychological and emotional dynamics between the characters. We see the stresses and tensions that arise as the group struggles to survive, and the unsavory aspects of their personalities come to light. The relationship between Laura and Alex, in particular, is complex and multifaceted, with both positive and negative elements.

The cast is uniformly excellent, with strong performances from Marie Trintignant as the conflicted Laura, François Berléand as the naive and hapless Leo, and Suzanne MacAleese as the precocious and intense actress Adele. The movie also features a memorable and chilling performance from newcomer Maud Buquet, as the innocent and vulnerable Nadia.

Overall, Deep In The Woods is an impressive and highly effective slasher movie, with a strong script, memorable characters, and a haunting atmosphere. It's a must-see for fans of the genre, and an impressive debut feature for director Lionel Delplanque. The movie is a unique and highly original reimagining of the classic fairy tale, and an impressive showcase for the talents of its cast and crew.
