Dick Night is a comedy thriller film that was released in 2011. Directed by Andy Viner, the movie stars Jennifer June Ross, Ben Huber, and Boomie Aglietti. It tells the story of two married couples who decide to spend an evening together with unexpected consequences. The movie begins with Rachel and Owen (played by Jennifer June Ross and Ben Huber) inviting their friends Jeff and Alex (played by Boomie Aglietti and Liz Lytle) over for dinner. They are all young professionals who seemingly have everything together. Rachel is a successful marketing executive, while Owen is a doctor who is working on a groundbreaking new medical procedure. Jeff and Alex are both lawyers who are trying to start a family.
As the night progresses, tensions begin to rise as all four of them reveal their own secrets and insecurities. It becomes clear that their seemingly perfect lives are not as perfect as they appear on the surface. The tension reaches a breaking point when Jeff and Alex reveal that they are planning on separating.
In an effort to salvage the evening, Rachel suggests they play a game called "Dick Night" – a game they used to play in college. The game involves drawing slips of paper with different names on them out of a hat. Each person then has to call the person whose name they drew and have a sexual conversation with them. The game quickly turns into a competition, as each person tries to one-up the others with their sexual deviancy.
The game takes a dark turn when Jeff draws the name of a local prostitute. He goes to see her and discovers that she has been murdered. Jeff panics and tries to cover up his involvement in the game, but the rest of the group becomes suspicious. As they try to figure out what happened, they find themselves caught up in a web of lies, deceit, and danger.
Jennifer June Ross delivers a standout performance as Rachel, the driving force behind the game. She is the one who suggests they play the game, and as the night progresses, she becomes increasingly competitive and manipulative. Ross captures Rachel’s playful and seductive side, but also hints at her darker, more dangerous side. Ross is particularly effective in the film’s climactic scenes, where Rachel's true nature is revealed.
Ben Huber plays Owen, Rachel's husband, who is initially sceptical about the game. Huber does an excellent job of portraying the character's discomfort and unease as the night goes on. As the mystery unfolds, Owen becomes one of the main suspects, and Huber's performance keeps viewers guessing until the film's final moments.
Boomie Aglietti and Liz Lytle deliver solid performances as Jeff and Alex, respectively. Jeff is the film's most complex character – a man who is struggling with his marriage and his own sexual identity. Aglietti captures Jeff's vulnerability, but also hints at his more sinister side. Lytle plays Alex with warmth and sincerity, making her character instantly likable.
Overall, Dick Night is a well-crafted, fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers engaged. The film's mix of dark humor and sexual content might not be for everyone, but those who enjoy edgier films will find much to appreciate here. The performances of the cast, particularly Jennifer June Ross, are a standout feature of the film, and director Andy Viner keeps the tension high throughout.
Dick Night is a 2011 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.4.
