- 49 min
There's been a Cricket Festival in Scarborough since 1876-and 2005 saw the 119th...a continuous run broken only by the war years. Described as 'first class cricket on holiday' the Festival is noted for its unique and friendly atmosphere. In August 2005-as well as the usual mix of Yorkshire county championship and one day fixtures- the Festival included a charity match between a Lashings XI and an Old England XI. The game, in aid of The Dickie Bird Foundation, featured many of the world's best players, both past and present. Dickie once again donned the famous white coat and hat to take his place in the middle.Television presenter Harry Gration joins Dickie Bird MBE to guide us through this remarkable event and meets the people who organize, play in and watch willow meet leather every year at North Marine Road- home to Scarborough Cricket Club and the World's Greatest Cricket Festival.
