Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon is an Indian drama film released in 2010. The movie explores the love story of two men, Aryan and Ashley, who fall in love despite societal pressures and taboos. The movie begins with a monologue by Aryan (played by Kapil Sharma), where he confesses his love for Ashley (played by Yuvraaj Parashar). The film then delves into their story, starting with their first encounter on a train ride to Mumbai. Ashley saves Aryan from some bullies on the train, and the two immediately hit it off. Aryan, who comes from a conservative Muslim family, is hesitant to reveal his true identity to Ashley fearing social repercussions. Ashley, on the other hand, comes from a Christian family and is open-minded about his sexuality. Despite their differences, the two embark on a passionate love affair that is frowned upon by society. The movie portrays the challenges faced by the couple in their quest for acceptance from their families and society. Aryan's family, in particular, is shown to be extremely conservative, and they strongly disapprove of homosexuality. Aryan's father (played by veteran actor Kabir Bedi) is a strict disciplinarian who believes that his son's behaviour is unacceptable and immoral. He tries to force Aryan into marrying a girl and leading a heterosexual life, which only serves to heighten the tension and conflict in the narrative. The film also explores the theme of coming out and reveals the emotional turmoil that people go through when they reveal their sexuality to their loved ones. At one point, Aryan is seen confessing his truth to his sister (played by Zeenat Aman), who is initially shocked and hurt by the revelation. However, she eventually accepts Aryan for who he is, paving the way for his parents to start accepting him as well. Throughout the movie, Aryan and Ashley's love is beautifully depicted through tender moments between the two of them. They share passionate kisses and affectionate gestures, but also have to navigate through the challenges brought about by their relationship. The film's soundtrack features a mix of Hindi and English songs, including a beautiful rendition of the classic song "Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass" originally sung by Kishore Kumar. Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon is a bold and groundbreaking film that challenges societal norms and taboos. It courageously portrays a same-sex romance and offers a compelling storyline that will resonate with audiences across the spectrum. With heartfelt performances by the lead actors, the film is a poignant representation of love in its purest form. In the end, the film offers a message of hope, acceptance, and love, proving that love knows no boundaries and can conquer all obstacles.
