A guided tour of Rye.
Rye is full of charm and steeped in history and ancient tradition. Stranded on a hill top, trapped centuries ago by the sea, Rye was once bustling with merchants, sailors, pirates and smugglers. Although the sea has since retreated the town is almost encircled by three rivers and so retains its maritime atmosphere. There are wonderful houses and shops from every period jostle together along the narrow cobbled streets.
