Echoes of a Ghost Minyan is a fascinating documentary that uses a mixture of interviews, real-life modern footage, old home movies and photographs to document the rise of a Jewish refugee community in South Philadelphia. The footage covers the period of 1882 to the close of World War I, 40 years later. What started with 225 Europeans grew to become home for 100,000 Jewish immigrants until the beginning of the 21st century. The documentary tells the story of the second largest Jewish community in the U.S. from the perspective of those who lived there, including the filmmakers themselves.
