This movie takes a look at the death of Soviet Socialist leader Leon Trotsky and explores the events leading up to his death and the immediate aftermath. The documentary looks at the work of the secret police force of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin who dispatched an assassin to Coyoacan in Mexico to infiltrate Trotsky's inner circle and eventually assassinate him. The story of assassin Ramon Mercader is told as he begins an affair with Trotsky's secretary to bring himself closer to the Socialist icon.
