Rio de Janeiro, 1945. Paul is an eight-year-old boy, and attends the end-of-the-war celebrations with his father, Marco, an Air Force pilot, and his mother, Sophie. With the passage of time, the relationship between Paul and the father becomes distant, but this is offset by the companionship of his inseparable friend Cabeção and the complicity of his grandfather Noel, who introduces him to the lively Rio nightlife. Restless, insecure and intense, the young man keeps questioning each situation in his life, when suddenly everything seems to happen at once: an unexpected romance with Marilyn, a sensual and provocative dancer, his mother's mental deterioration, his new-found closeness with his father and the aging of his grandfather. One day it'll be good to look back and realize that, after all, he lived moments of supreme happiness.
