As a skilled martial artist with quick reflexes, Jimmy Wang Yu plays Ah Chen, a young man who lives by the motto "live fast, die young." This leads him to get into trouble with local gangs, and he is eventually forced to leave his hometown. However, he soon finds himself in another dangerous situation when he interrupts a robbery and is mistaken for one of the perpetrators by the police.

Ah Chen's only option is to go on the run, and he finds refuge at a martial arts academy run by Master Wu (played by Paul Chang Chung). There, he meets the master's daughter, Meng Hsiao (played by Hsiao-Chuang Kuo) and begins to develop feelings for her.

Despite the relatively peaceful life at the academy, Ah Chen's past catches up with him when local gang members discover where he's been hiding. They cause trouble and insult Master Wu, leading to a showdown between Ah Chen and the gang leader, Feng Chen. This intense battle ends with Ah Chen being seriously injured, but he vows to get revenge against the gang.

Ah Chen's road to revenge is a treacherous one, as he must not only deal with the gang members but also with the police who are trying to track him down. Along the way, he finds help in unexpected places and even manages to have a few romantic moments with Meng Hsiao.
