An Iranian interpreter, Fariba, with the support of a relative, she goes to exile in Germany in an attempt to avoid capital punishment for taking part in homosexual activities, but her application is denied on the basis of an impromptu political asylum documentation. As she awaits deportation, Fariba decides to renew her identity after realizing that a fellow Iranian, Siamak, committed suicide. She takes the character of a man and this allows her release from detention. Fariba decides to work in a small-town factory to save money for a fake passport, which will allow her to become a woman again.
