Hope at Christmas is a heartwarming holiday movie that was released in 2018. It stars Scottie Thompson and Ryan Paevey, who play opposite each other as two very different people who find themselves unexpectedly drawn to one another during the Christmas season. Thompson plays the role of Sydney Ragsdale, a workaholic with a high-powered job in advertising. Sydney is determined to make a name for herself in the industry, but she neglects her family and friends in the process. When she receives word that her aunt has passed away, Sydney finds herself travelling back to her childhood home in upstate New York to prepare the family house for sale. As soon as she arrives, she is inundated with memories of her childhood Christmas celebrations which were filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.

Paevey portrays the character of Brett, a local handyman who lives and works in the small town of Hopewell. Brett is a dedicated family man, but he has been struggling to make ends meet since his wife passed away. When Sydney hires him to help with the house renovation, the two of them quickly develop a connection, despite their vastly different backgrounds.

Over the course of the movie, Sydney and Brett work together to restore the old house to its former glory. As they work side by side, they begin to open up to one another, sharing stories of their past, hopes for the future, and dreams that they have long abandoned. Sydney also discovers that Brett is an adept artist who creates beautiful wooden carvings in his spare time, and she offers to help him promote his work on social media.

As they spend more time together, Sydney and Brett begin to realize that they are falling in love. However, Sydney still has to come to terms with the emotionally charged memories of her childhood, along with her busy job and the uncertainty of her future. Moreover, she must navigate the unexpected feelings she has for Brett while resisting her urge to return to her comfortable city lifestyle.

As the holiday season approaches, the town of Hopewell is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights and merriment. The community comes together to put on a spectacular Christmas celebration, complete with a tree-lighting ceremony and snowflake parade. Sydney finds herself caught up in the cheerful festivities and, to her surprise, begins to - at least partially - embrace the holiday spirit. Meanwhile, Brett's family brings joy into Sydney's life in ways she could never have imagined, including by introducing her to their local Christmas dinner tradition.

Throughout the movie, the love between Sydney and Brett continues to grow, but it is not without its challenges. Sydney must decide if she is willing to take a chance on love, even if it means giving up her fast-paced advertising career and leaving behind the life she knows. As the two struggle with their individual issues, they realize that what they really need is a little bit of hope, and with the help of each other, they just might find it.

In conclusion, Hope at Christmas is an endearing and enjoyable festive movie that reminds viewers about the importance of family, love, and community during the holiday season. With its sprinkling of romance, small-town charm, and Christmassy cheer, it is a heartwarming tale that will bring a smile to your face and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
