I Want Candy is a 2007 comedy film about two young film students who strive to produce the next big British movie. They receive an unexpected opportunity to make their dreams come true when a big-shot Hollywood producer offers them a chance to make a smash-hit film for him. There's just one catch: the producer wants it to be a pornographic movie. At first, the students are shocked by the proposition. However, they soon realize that this may be the only way to create the movie they've always dreamt of.

The film follows Joe and Baggy, two film students who yearn for fame and fortune in the movie industry. They are working on a low-budget film about social issues in the UK, but their project hits a roadblock when the university pulls funding. In a last-ditch attempt to salvage the film, they enter a competition to win £20,000 that's sponsored by a well-known American film producer, Dougherty.

Much to Joe and Baggy's surprise, their submission is a finalist in the competition. However, the prize money comes with a hitch: the producer wants the winning film to be a pornographic movie. Joe and Baggy are reluctant, but they decide to accept the deal in hopes of gaining the funds needed to produce their original film.

The duo's main challenge is to create a pornographic movie which still has a story and substance. To achieve this, they work with a veteran porn star, Candy Fiveways, who acts as the lead character in their film. Candy explains to them that they have two weeks to complete the film, which sends both Joe and Baggy into a panic.

Despite initial reluctance, the boys slowly warm up to the idea of creating a pornographic movie. They even begin to enjoy it, thanks in part to Candy's guidance. However, they must still keep their project a secret from their families, professors, and peers. As they venture further into the world of adult filmmaking, their lives and relationships are forever changed.

I Want Candy is not your typical pornographic film. While some of the scenes may be mildly explicit, the bulk of the film is a comedy that satirizes the British film industry. It offers a hilarious, yet honest, look at the challenges young filmmakers face as they try to break into the industry.

The film boasts an impressive cast of talented British actors, including Tom Riley as Joe, Tom Burke as Baggy, and Carmen Electra as Candy Fiveways. Electra is particularly impressive in her role, offering a nuanced portrayal of a seasoned porn star who's trying to revive her career. Also, Eddie Marsan delivers an outstanding performance as a sleazy agent.

Director Stephen Surjik keeps the film moving at a brisk pace, with plenty of quick-witted dialogue and laugh-out-loud scenes. The comedic timing is spot-on throughout the movie, creating many memorable moments. The film's soundtrack is also quite impressive, featuring songs from the likes of The Clash and The Jam.

While I Want Candy can be seen as both a coming-of-age and a comedy film, it also has some poignant moments. The movie explores themes such as ambition, betrayal, and the pressure society puts on young people to achieve success quickly. Ultimately, the film shows that it takes courage to go against the norm and create something unique and boundary-pushing.

In conclusion, I Want Candy is a delightful comedy film that offers a unique take on the British film industry. The movie's humor is witty, and the performances are genuinely engaging, making it an enjoyable watch for anyone looking for laughs. It's a cinematic experience that will leave you with a smile on your face and maybe even some life lessons along the way.
