This documentary first appeared as a mini-series. Directed by Christ Oxley and narrated by Bill Paterson, the film seeks to trace the rise to power of the Fascists who ruled Italy during the period of the Second World War. It will appeal to anyone with an interest in history or government subjects. The documentary makes extensive use of archive footage, documents and interviews with experts. Alexander Stille, the author of "Benevolence and Betrayal" appears in the film, and there are interviews with Stanley Payne, John Pollard, and Adrian Lyttleton. Professor Emilio Gentile from the University of Rome also discusses fascism.
