Judy Mbugua was born in Kenya, Africa, in 1947 of Christian parents. She left school early to marry. After the birth of her second child she completed her education and achieved considerable success in the business world.. She had three more children but felt a call to do God's work among the women of Kenya. A leader of PACWA (Pan African Christian Women's Association,) Mrs. Mbugua is concerned with empowering women to attain self-sufficiency. In a polygamous society each woman must care for her own children and fathers will not pay for the education of daughters. Now mothers who are able to work are paying for their daughters schooling. But she also professes belief in the submission of a woman to her husband as head of the house. "We are free within the context of the word of God." "Christianity has brought them freedom."
