Ramlee himself and remains one of his most beloved works. The film takes place in the bustling port city of Penang during the 1960s. It follows the adventures of three sailors named Do (P. Ramlee), Re (A.R. Tompel), and Mi (Ibrahim Din) who are stationed aboard a naval vessel. The three friends spend their idle time singing and entertaining themselves with music.

One day, the sailors are granted shore leave and decide to explore the city. While wandering the streets, they come across a beautiful young woman named Salbiah (Mariam Ismail) who is singing in a cafe. Do is immediately drawn to her and vows to make her his wife.

The three sailors hatch a plan to win Salbiah's hand in marriage. They form a band and enter a talent competition that Datuk Mustapha is hosting. The competition is fierce, but with their masterful musical skills and lively energy, Do, Re, and Mi are able to win the hearts of the judges and the audience with their performance.

As a result, they are able to convince Datuk Mustapha to let Do marry Salbiah. However, their troubles are not over yet.
