Left By the Ship is a documentary-type film that follows four Filipino Amerasians during two years of their lives. It was filmed mainly in Olongapo, the Philippines from 2007 to 2009. This true story is about American servicemen who had fathered children in the Philippines. In 1992, the base had closed and most of these children were left behind. They had been robbed of their sense of identity and of their fathers. Filipino Amerasians can not benefit from a law called the Amerasian Act, so the four in the film were followed in their struggle to overcome a situation that they never were responsible for.
