Watch Live in London

"Live in London (April Wine video)" is a concert film of influential Canadian hard rock band April Wine's 1981 London show at the Hammersmith Odeon. The performance features the band's most famous line-up with Myle Goodwyn (guitars, vocals), Bryan Greenway (guitars, vocals), Gary Moffet (guitars, background vocals), Steve Lang (bass, background vocals) and Jerry Mercer (drums).

The show was recorded at the band's energetic peak after the release of a number of platinum records. The 15 song set list highlights some of their popular international releases including such hits as "Wanna Rock", "Roller" and "Between You and Me". Many of the songs run longer then their studio versions due to extended guitar and drum solos. Simulated Dolby 5.1 provides a surround sound like production.

The band plays on a sophisticated tiered stage set-up. The design allows the interplay between the five band members to be seen clearly during vocal and guitar harmonies. A multitude of lighting effects accents the twists and turns of the music whilst colorfully illuminating the band, shrouding them in shadows or spotlighting a given soloist.

The film of the concert is spliced with interviews and footage of the band on their double-decker tour bus perusing the streets of England. The interviews provide additional information on the band's 1981 UK tour, as well as showing the members horsing around and casually interacting. The original film is modified with a number of special effects. They range from simple overlays of the band members playing their parts to intense psychedelic visuals. These various effects will be aligned with the music at any given time.

"Live in London" was released on VHS in 1981 by Thorn EMI and in 2008 by Cherry Red Records UK. It was directed by Derek Burbidge, and mixed by Myles Goodwyn and Mike Stone for Aquarius records. The total film runs at 66 minutes long.
