Ever since childhood, filmmaker Hans Giffhorn has dreamed of finding one of the rarest hummingbirds: the marvellous spatuletail. The bird is so scarce that no one has seen it in forty years. Giffhorn's search takes him along the Utcubamba river in Peru where he finds spectacled bears, Andean cock-of-the-rocks, beautiful orchids and undocumented hummingbirds.
