Magic Mushrooms is a low-budget, independent film from 2017 directed by Sean Megaw. The movie revolves around a group of friends who decide to take a trip to the countryside in order to use and experiment with magic mushrooms. Along the way, they deal with interpersonal conflicts, traumatic memories, and unexpected twists and turns.

The main protagonist of the movie is Amanda, played by Alyssa Capriotti. She is a young woman who has recently ended a romantic relationship and is dealing with unresolved emotional issues. Her friends, including her ex-boyfriend, persuade her to come along and try magic mushrooms, as they believe it will be a therapeutic and transformative experience for her.

The group consists of six people in total, including Amanda's ex-boyfriend, played by Aaron Hale, and a mysterious woman named Sarah, played by Maria Syrgiannis. They rent a cabin in the middle of the woods, far away from civilization, and start consuming the mushrooms. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse.

As they start to feel the effects of the mushrooms, the group members begin to experience a range of intense emotions and sensations. Some feel euphoric and giggly, while others become anxious and paranoid. Over the course of the trip, each character confronts their inner demons and faces their deepest fears.

Amanda, in particular, experiences vivid hallucinations and flashbacks of traumatic events from her past. She opens up to her friends about her struggles with mental health and reveals a history of self-harm. The group tries to support her and provide comfort, but tensions rise as secrets are revealed and alliances are tested.

As the night progresses, the group begins to lose touch with reality and their sense of time and space. They encounter strange and disturbing creatures in the woods, and their own mental states become increasingly unstable. The line between illusion and reality becomes blurred, and the group members must fight to survive the night.

Magic Mushrooms is a psychological thriller that explores themes of friendship, mental health, and the dangers of drug use. The movie features strong performances from its cast, especially Alyssa Capriotti in the lead role. The cinematography is impressive, with atmospheric shots of the surreal woodland setting.

Overall, the movie is a gripping and unsettling tale that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. It is not for the faint of heart, as it contains graphic and disturbing scenes. However, for those who enjoy a good psychological thriller with a supernatural twist, Magic Mushrooms is definitely worth a watch.
