Midnight Runners is a 2017 South Korean action comedy film directed by Jason Kim. The movie revolves around two police academy cadets, Gi-joon (played by Park Seo-joon) and Hee-yeol (played by Kang Ha-neul), who stumble upon a kidnapping case while out for a night of partying. As they realize the ineffectiveness of the police system, they decide to take matters into their own hands and investigate the case themselves.

The movie starts off by introducing Gi-joon and Hee-yeol as two very different individuals who have just started their police training. Gi-joon is a naturally gifted athlete and a top student, while Hee-yeol is more laid back and follows his own rules. Despite their differences, they become close friends and roommates.

One night, they witness a woman being kidnapped and they quickly report it to the police. However, the police seem more interested in filling out paperwork than actually finding the missing girl. Disappointed by the police’s lack of action, the two cadets decide to embark on their own investigation.

Their journey takes them on a wild and dangerous ride through the streets of Seoul, as they follow clues and try to save the kidnapped girl. Along the way, they encounter a ruthless gang involved in human trafficking, and the situation becomes even more precarious as they put themselves in grave danger.

As they get closer to solving the case, the two cadets must also deal with personal challenges, such as their own physical limitations and the effects of the investigation on their personal lives. Despite these challenges, they persevere and eventually uncover the truth behind the kidnapping.

Midnight Runners not only delivers an entertaining and action-packed story, but also tackles social issues such as the inefficiency of the police and the prevalence of human trafficking. The movie also explores themes of friendship, teamwork, and dedication, as Gi-joon and Hee-yeol strive to do the right thing despite the obstacles they face.

Park Seo-joon and Kang Ha-neul deliver outstanding performances as the two cadets, showcasing their comedic talents and their ability to handle intense action scenes. The chemistry between the two actors is palpable, making their friendship feel natural and relatable.

In addition, Ha-seon Park shines as the kidnapped girl, portraying a character who is both vulnerable and strong-willed. The supporting cast also delivers solid performances, particularly Dong-il Sung as their tough-but-fair police instructor.

Overall, Midnight Runners is a well-crafted and enjoyable action comedy that combines heart-pumping action with humor and heart. It is a movie that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats while also leaving them with a sense of warmth and appreciation for the importance of teamwork and friendship.

Midnight Runners is a 2017 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 48 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.3.
